Igor Vaserfirer represents developers, investors, and operating companies in complex commercial transactions and high-value real estate matters. He regularly advises businesses in healthcare, construction, logistics, manufacturing, hospitality, government contracting, and real estate development. His practice spans acquisitions, development, governance structuring, capital raises, and litigation-aware agreement drafting.​

BACKGROUND

 

A Norfolk native, Igor attended Norfolk Collegiate before earning his degree from the College of William & Mary, studying Philosophy and Environmental Policy. He went on to Villanova University School of Law, where he served on the Honor Board. 

 

He returned to Virginia and trained for nearly a decade under a former AmLaw 100 firm attorney, building a practice grounded in sophisticated deal structuring and disciplined risk analysis.

EXPERIENCE

​

Igor's work routinely involves complex commercial real estate acquisitions, leases, easements, assemblages, joint ventures, capital stack structuring, and lender negotiations. He has resolved multi-million-dollar construction disputes and managed time-sensitive intellectual property matters filed during national trade events. Igor has successfully negotiated and navigated M&A transactions exceeding $40 million against national firms with hundreds of attorneys. He has structured and closed major development projects, including, for example, securing VHDA-backed financing in excess of $47 million.

Igor is frequently called upon to resolve complex partnership and ownership disputes where control, and capital are at stake. He advises business owners in situations involving deadlock, fiduciary allegations, buyouts, and governance breakdowns — often before litigation becomes inevitable. Drawing on his transactional background, he approaches disputes with a dealmaker’s mindset, identifying leverage points, restructuring economics, and negotiating exits that preserve enterprise value whenever possible.

He is known for direct communication, precise drafting, and the ability to operate effectively opposite difficult counterparties or large national firms while maintaining partner-level accessibility. Clients engage Igor when the transaction needs to be handled with care and creativity.​​

Outside the office, he spends time with his lovely wife, their Yorkie Bailey, and their newborn son — usually somewhere near the Chesapeake Bay.
